TODRA GORGE, MOROCCO MULTI-PITCH CLIMBING RETREAT
Embark on an adventure in Todra Gorge, Morocco's hidden gem for multi-pitch climbing. Nestled within the stunning landscapes of the High Atlas Mountains, Todra Gorge offers a haven for climbers seeking both challenge and serenity. We'll spend the week climbing towering limestone cliffs offering breathtaking views of the rugged canyon below. This is our most beginner friendly retreat with multi-pitch route options ranging from 5.8 to 5.11. The climbs range from 3 pitches to 12 pitches and no previous multi-pitch experience is required. We also have the option to push ourselves on some of the spectacular single pitch climbs. This is a low ratio trip with just 2 climbers per guide meaning that we can easily customize the trip to your goals.

This all inclusive retreat means that after a day of climbing, you can unwind at our accommodations, where you can relax and recharge for the next day's adventures. Each night we will sample a different local dish.

TRIP ITINERARY
DAY 1 (TRAVEL DAY)
We will provide lodging for the night before the trip. We will meet as a group in Todra the evening for a welcome dinner to get to know each other and chat about logistics. If you don't want jet lag to affect your first couple days of climbing, we recommend flying into Morocco or another place in Europe a few days before the start of the trip and exploring!
DAYÂ 2
Our goal for the first day will be to get warmed up to the climbing and teach or review some baseline skills. If you want to lead on the trip we will review this and do safety checks. This day could involve craging, or a shorter multi-pitch climb.
DAYS 3Â - 4
For the main portion of the trip, we will cater to individual/group interest. Each day we can choose between single pitch and multipitch climbing. We can focus on technical skills, work on pushing our movement and/or refine our mental techniques for climbing. If you would like to learn to lead single or multi-pitch sport climbs we can teach and practice those skills as well
DAY 5
This day will be an optional rest day.
DAY 6 & 7
More climbing!
DAY 8 (TRAVEL DAY)
Time to head home!

HOW TO GET TO TODRA
1) Fly into Ouarzazate, Morocco and take a 3 hour bus ride or taxi to Todra. Flights to Ouarzazate from the US are quite expensive. If you fly into a city like Barcelona, and by a separate plane ticket to Ouarzazate it can be quite cheap! We recommend giving yourself a day in Barcelona to get over jet lag and in case you have any issues with your flight.
2) Fly into Marrakesh, Morocco and take a 7-8 hour bus ride or 6 hour taxi to Todra. This option is much cheaper if you don't want to book two separate flights.

The bus is around $17 from Marrakesh to Todra and a bit cheaper from Ouarzazate. Tickets and schedule are here: https://www.supratours.ma/ If you are planning on taking the bus reach out and we can help you with logistics.
FAQS
DO PEOPLE USUALLY SIGN UP SOLO OR IN GROUPS?
A lot of people sign up alone. It can be intimidating to travel to a new place alone with a bunch of strangers, be assured a lot of folks are in the same boat. It is a great way to network and meet new people.
HOW MANY PEOPLE SIGN UP? WHAT IS THE TYPICAL DEMOGRAPHIC?
If a trip fills, we will typically expect around 4 - 6 people on a trip. We usually get a relatively even split of men and women. Historically, the average age has been mid 20's through mid 40's. Though we have had people of all ages sign up, even some in their 70's! Minimum age for this trip is 18.
WHAT IS THE TYPICAL EXPERIENCE LEVEL PEOPLE WHO SIGN UP HAVE?
This retreat is open to people of all experience levels, whether its your first time climbing outside, or are looking to break into 5.12. The low ratio on this trip will allow us to split up into small groups and cater to everyone's goals.
HOW MUCH WILL I GET TO LEAD?
We pride ourselves on providing solid instruction and giving people the opportunity to grow. While its certainly not a requirement for the trip, we are happy to mix in some instructional curriculum for those interested. Kalymnos can function as a great classroom, whether its your first time climbing outside, or your looking to lead multi pitch routes on your own!
HOW HARD DO I NEED TO CLIMB TO GET THE MOST OF THIS TRIP?
Todra has classic routes at all grades. To get the most out of your trip, we would recommend that you should be able to climb 5.9 in a gym without falling or 5.7 outside without falling. This shouldn't be viewed as a hard and fast rule, but will set you up with a good baseline to have a wide range of climbs within your grasp. Reach out to us if you are unsure if this retreat is a good fit.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY
We have a strict cancellation policy for international trips. See our Terms and Conditions page for a more detailed outline on what this looks like. We highly recommend you purchase trip cancellation insurance.
WHAT IS THE FOOD LIKE IN MOROCCO?
Moroccan cuisine is a delightful fusion of flavors influenced by its diverse cultural history, blending Berber, Arab, Moorish, French, and Mediterranean culinary traditions. Here are some highlights:
Tagine: This is perhaps Morocco's most iconic dish. It's a slow-cooked stew made with meat (often lamb or chicken), vegetables, fruits (like apricots or dates), and a blend of spices, cooked in a cone-shaped clay pot, also called a tagine.
Couscous: A staple dish made from steamed semolina grains, often served with a stew of meat and vegetables. It's a hearty and comforting meal enjoyed throughout Morocco.
Moroccan Salads: Moroccan cuisine features a variety of salads made from fresh vegetables, herbs, and sometimes fruits, often seasoned with olive oil, lemon juice, and spices.
Bread: Bread is a staple in Moroccan cuisine, with various types such as khobz (round, flatbread) ad msemen (folded, square-shaped bread).
Moroccan cuisine is characterized by its bold flavors, aromatic spices, and a harmonious balance of sweet and savory elements. Like all our retreats we are on a culinary adventure as much as a climbing adventure!
We can also accommodate some dietary restrictions. Reach out if you have any questions!
